Low-Level Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy for Decreased Inflammation and Pain Management

Ease your pain and promote faster healing with laser therapy at Thorassic Park.  Most people are familiar with lasers as they’re becoming more commonplace in medical and dental procedures.  At Thorassic Park, we use laser therapy in our practice, too. However, the laser we use is called low-level laser light therapy (LLLT). Unlike what automatically comes to mind, this laser is not hot and does not get used to remove or cut through tissue.

How Low-Level Laser Therapy Works

Laser therapy uses light waves to stimulate the soft tissues of your body. This encourages the regeneration of damaged cells, which speeds up your body’s healing process. Researchers have likened it to photosynthesis. Light promotes biochemical changes in plants—namely, synthesizing foods from water and carbon dioxide. The same happens to your cells when low-level laser light penetrates the skin and soft tissues, promoting a biochemical reaction that stimulates healing.

Who can benefit from LLLT? Nearly anyone dealing with pain, inflammation, and soft-tissue injuries. Athletes commonly use it for pain relief and healing so they can get back in the game faster.
